Welcome to the Sunday Go Lessons home page! We hope you enjoy
your stay. This site is dedicated to the ancient game of Go,
also
known by its Chinese name of Weiqi and its Korean name, Baduk.
Go
was invented in China almost 4,000 years ago. While until
recently Go has been nearly unheard of in the West, it is extremely
popular in Asia and is enjoyed by young and old alike. While
the
game only has three rules, the strategies and tactics are so complex
that many people dedicate their lives to its study. Go is a
game
where two players compete to control more territory than the other.
In antiquity, Japanese and Chinese generals made it a
requirement
that their commanders learn the game to be proficient in its strategy.
In this website you will find tutorials aimed at complete beginners as well as a selection of publications and in the future Go equipment. We plan on adding a lot more as time goes on so stay tuned.
It is my sincerest wish that more and more people in the English speaking world know more about this great game and take joy in unraveling its endless mystery. Enjoy.
