Calling for Submissions!

What's your story?  If you have an interesting story about how you learned about Go, please feel free to send it to me by email, including any pictures you'd like to go along with it and a name to credit the story with (doesn't have to be your full name or even your real name).  I think it'd be a great way to foster the Go community by going back and reliving what brought us to be Go players.  I will select submissions I think are especially good and post them on the website, so by sending me one you agree to have it posted here.

Also, I'd like to start creating online photo albums of tournaments.  Of course many people already keep photos of their tournaments but it'd be nice to have them all collected in one place, which also works great as a means of promoting your local tournaments for people to participate in the future.  Send me your photos of tournament play or just of your club members hanging out and having fun!

Welcome to Sunday Go Lessons!

Pic 2 Welcome to the Sunday Go Lessons home page!  We hope you enjoy your stay.  This site is dedicated to the ancient game of Go, also known by its Chinese name of Weiqi and its Korean name, Baduk.  Go was invented in China almost 4,000 years ago.  While until recently Go has been nearly unheard of in the West, it is extremely popular in Asia and is enjoyed by young and old alike.  While the game only has three rules, the strategies and tactics are so complex that many people dedicate their lives to its study.  Go is a game where two players compete to control more territory than the other.  In antiquity, Japanese and Chinese generals made it a requirement that their commanders learn the game to be proficient in its strategy.

In this website you will find tutorials aimed at complete beginners as well as a selection of publications and in the future Go equipment. We plan on adding a lot more as time goes on so stay tuned.

It is my sincerest wish that more and more people in the English speaking world know more about this great game and take joy in unraveling its endless mystery.  Enjoy.
